Great quality wireless system at a very good price.

I've now had a chance to check my replacement and can report that all seems to be working well this time, with no dropouts, so have upped my star rating. Just to add that, due to the lockdown, I haven't been able to road test it yet.I've had to return the item following my review below and have changed my star rating to reflect the faulty item. When it was working it was excellent. BUT It was intermittently dropping out in different locations and with different guitars rendering it too risky in live situations. The DWS-2 I was comparing with had not previously shown this problem, but I didn't have enough time to cross check again before band rehearsals stopped. I'm hoping I was just unlucky with mine and will re-order once the virus is over and I can properly test it again.I have some experience with the the previous version of the DWS-3 so I was interested to compare the two. The DWS-3 arrived promptly and was well packaged. There's a soft bag included which looks fine but I'd be inclined to use the moulded rubber to protect the device from damage at the bottom of my large gig bag.The DWS-3 is a bit chunkier sized than its predecessor presumably, in part, to accommodate the larger capacity batteries. One of my gripes with v2 was the relatively short time available from a set of batteries. There is no such problem with the 3 with plenty of charge to get you through a gig without worrying. There's no spare batteries with the 3 (they're not changeable in any case so I do wonder how many charges they'll take) but that's not a worry as I comfortably got through, for example, a 4 hour rehearsal session. The units feel more robust than the 2s and the centre mounted jacks have a much firmer feel. You wouldn't want to stand on them, but for a Saturday pub gig they're fine. On a Strat the transmitter just about clears the body so that's fine. And it fits unobtrusively in a rim mounted jack (pictured). It would be nice to be able to see the power was on and the channel setting for that guitar, but it's not a big deal. Set up is super easy. As is changing the channel so different band members can use their own units. I also like the 5 dB boost though technically I've no idea if or why it's effective. So, plugged in, I'm not aware of any latency and to my unprofessional ears there's no quality difference between the DWS-3 and the cables I use. Certainly there were no frop outs. I've not tested the extent of the range, but there were no problems standing 20 feet away from the stage during sound check. All in all the minor modifications and improvements from version 2, the ease of setting up, and the equivalent quality of sound when compared to my usual cables make the DWS-3 a really good buy for the guitarist who likes a bit of a wander on stage!

Good sound quality and battery life and also charges fairly quickly

First of all these units are very easy to use. Charge them, switch them on, plug them in and away you go. No user intervention unless you want to change the channel this can be done by toggling through one of the switches, obviously both units must use the same channel to connect to each other.I have only tested them over a 35 foot range which is more than sufficient for me. However a large concrete pillar between both units while testing did cause the signal to lag and breakup, but moving back to line sight between units rectified this automatically.I have tried these units on several different guitars acoustic/pickup and electric guitars without any problems. Some vintage guitars had slight issues, my vintage Ovation with OP24 pre-amp did have a little bit of hiss while idle but was not very noticeable while playing it. Likewise an old Musican Man Sabre 1978 with inbuilt pre-amp also had a slight hiss but not enough to make it unusable. With these units I have tried a resonator guitar a couple of Martins and Seagull guitars through a Yamaha mixer with excellent results. Any of the acoustic guitars with modern pickups and pre-amps worked flawlesslyI have tested them on Strats , Teles, Les Pauls, Music Man JP6, through a Fender SuperChamp and all sounded good.I did not test them using pedals mainly because I don't use them very often, so I cannot comment on how they would perform in that department. These units are made of plastic but feel solid enough and so should last awhile if looked after . The only advice I would give is when plugging them out grip as close to the jack plug as possible this should reduce any chance of breaking themEdit 17Jan 2022: Transmitter Stopped working

Lovely unit, Excellent Sound but terrible dropouts - both frequency and duration.

*by R***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2021*

Nice unit - not cheap and nasty like some. The sound quality is very good - detailed and lively, no loss of sparkle. Latency is very low and you don't feel it. My real issue was the dropouts. If I sat still, 3ft away from the amp, all was fine. If I got up and walked about the room, it would start dropping out. It would happen if you turned your back on the receiver. If your guitar itself even came between the receiver and the transmitter - out it would drop. The dropouts were sometimes over a second in duration - and very easily repeatable. Happened on different amps, in different rooms. Real shame as I liked the unit. I did not like the plastic aerials rattling around and I probably would have taped them up to protect them if I had kept this item. I have switched to using a 5G system which doesn't suffer dropouts (in my home environment) - but I preferred this if it hadn't dropped out all the time.
