I had several shadow sticks, from elf to Bobbi Brown, but they are shimmer/metallic formulas and I wanted to test whether a matte formula as an everyday look would shave some time off of my routine and eliminate the need for a primer. Was concerned about whether or not I’d be able to achieve the blend I desire with the deeper matte shade I prefer in my crease, but these blend so much better than the prior shadow sticks I owned which had a limited working time and you could always detect the line from where it was applied. The Stone Matte shade blends seamlessly on my fair complexion and an added benefit that I didn’t expect… no skipping on my mature and hooded lids! I can’t speak to how well it will work for you if you are hoping to use this only as it was always my intention to use this as a base, so the working time I appreciate (based on how I use it) may be an issue of it feeling sticky for others but a little translucent powder would be a quick fix. I sweep it across my entire lid, blend out the crease, then use a darker/lighter powder eyeshadow to contour the lid, a quick sweep of a similar color in the crease, and finish with my brow highlight blending into the crease blend. Might sound like a lot of work but it takes half the amount of time of powdered shadows on primed eyes, looks twice as good, and stays until I’m ready to remove it, seriously. I accidentally fell asleep after testing it out on only one eye for the first time (not advisable)- was shocked to wake up with it looking exactly as it did minutes after finishing application bc I’m a pillow smooshing, side sleeper. While it is a durable, long wearing formula (again, I set it with a touch of powder), it is easy to remove with an oil based makeup remover or coconut oil.I’ll be honest, these were intended as testers for experimenting with different application methods. I didn’t expect much, I just didn’t want to waste 20-30 dollars on a product that I wouldn’t know I wouldn’t use until after I tried it. I am super impressed with how these performed and don’t need to invest in a more high-priced option because these exceeded all hopes of a desirable outcome. The stone shade is exactly the color I wanted for my cool toned complexion and I bet it might double as a contour too- although I haven’t tried it…… yep, just did. If you are cool/fair and have difficulty finding contour that isn’t too warm, this would be great as a precision contour for nose and lips. It doesn’t blend as easily as a complexion product, of course, but it doesn’t disappear either so it’s perfect for the nose. Hopefully it doesn’t cause a breakout! Will update if an issue. For comparison it’s almost identical to the fair/light powder contour shades from Melt and Kaleidos, the Shady Lady putty bronzer and the Fair Camo liquid contour from e.l.f. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ smooth,fast & easy! *by M***E on June 15, 2025* Glides on super smooth and stays on all day long! Does not clump up, easy to blend. Colors are very pretty but find myself only using 3 or 4 of the 8 just because some are just too bold for my taste/ skin tone.. I use the lightest color first and after it glides on I just use finger and tap my eyelids for it to set and use that as primer and then add colors accordingly. I use eyeliner, but do have to go over eyeliner couple times to get desired look. Great buy for the price! Highly recommend! ### ⭐⭐⭐ The Color Was Too Faint And The Stick Broke *by D***G on May 24, 2025* The first time I tried to use it, the color came completely out of the pencil and fell onto the ground. I tried to use the others and the colors were too light and faint for me. I have medium light skin, and unless your skin is really dark, do not expect this eye shadow to be very noticeable. Only the darkest of the 4 blue colors were able to show up.
