## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these tracks for the Polar Express ready to play set ( the set with the remote control)**
A: BUYERS BEWARE!
Lionel has marketed two different Polar Express train sets - "Ready to Play" (RTP) and "Ready to Run" (RTR). This track is for the RTP sets they have out on the market now (2018). It is a larger, non-standard scale, battery powered with radio remote control and suitable for younger children.

The RTR sets used to come in two scales, a G-scale set and an O-scale set. The G-scale RTR sets were made and marketed by Lionel until 2015 or 2016. They were a standard G-scale plastic, snap-together track, battery powered engine with radio remote control and suitable for younger children. I've never used the engine and cars with other makes of G-scale track but have been told they will work just fine. The RTP track being sold here will not work with the track from older RTR G-scale sets because it is about a 1/4" narrower. Even if this track was true G-scale track it still would not work with G-scale RTR track because the track connection schemes are incompatible.

Lionel still makes and markets their O-scale RTR sets. The track for the O-scale sets has a plastic roadbed made to look like gravel, cross ties made to look like wood and three metal rails with the center rail used to deliver current to the engine's electric motor and the outside rails providing the return path to ground. O-scale RTR sets usually sell for between $200 and $1000 and aren't really suitable for younger children.

Hope this clears up all the confusion.

**Q: Does anyone know what the width betweeen the tracks is for this item**
A: Exactly 2 inches of space between the inner part of the tracks

**Q: Is this compatible with Lionel G-gauge track for battery powered train?**

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Justo lo que pedi

Estaba bien las vías de tren.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lionel Trains products are still #1 in quality
*by on Reviewed in the United States 25 February 2026*

We have purchased multiple sets of this Lionel track in straight as well as curved, over the years. We use 2 train sets throughout the holidays. The track pieces click in tight and disconnect without breakage. Trains glide over smooth, without any lag at any speed. Tracks work well flat as well as on incline levels. Highly reccomend for replacing old tracks or for starting new, giving your train more area to run.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Schienen Erweiterung Polarexpress

Schönes Erweiterungsset für den Polarexpress. Bin sehr zufrieden.
