Ultimately I graduated to the bug-a-salt, a fun device that uses salt to eliminate the problem, but once again, the safety and efficacy of the device left me wanting for more. Finally I purchased the disposable version of this unit, and although I noticed a quick and substantive decrease in flies, I felt that throwing the containers away was a waste. I have been buying these containers for the past 4 years, and have found that they last about two years before they become to fragile and begin leaking the fly attractant and smelling up the place. THe ability to fill these and simply set them out by far has the easiest use of all the devices used, they capture the majority of adult and most junior flies, and contain them with no issues, I typically empty them out every month, wash them clean and refill with attractant and water. THis only leaves me the issue of refilling water during the hotter months. As far as the device is concerned, the attractant has a very pungent odor, one that mimics the smell of an out house, the attractant itself is not sticky, but does stain the skin with odor if allowed to spill on you. I personally use gloves, and this prevents me from taking the odor with me. The warmer it is the worse the smell the better it works. **Q: Do these help with yellow flies?** A: I’m not certain of yellow flies, but it definitely worked indoor for house flies.
