The 1/2" has 3/8" when it is relaxed, and easily holds a thick HDMI cable, power cord, and USB 3 cable. As far as bounce back goes if you bent it around something and then laid it on a table it would straighten right out. It would need to be wedged in or zip tied to keep the corner in it.
