The "Coil tap" model is a 112V and the "standard" model is a 112J. They are both similar guitars, but the 112V has several small upgrades: Alnico V magnet based pickups instead of ceramic magnets, the tremolo is slightly upgraded with block saddles, and the tone knob can be pulled to coil tap the humbucker into a single coil. Also, the pickguard on the 112v is smaller, exposing more wood, but this is really more a style thing.. **Q: I am a beginner trying to look for my first guitar. What is the difference between Coil tap style and Standard style in this product?** A: With coil tapping it gives you more total sound options.You simply have to pull up on one of the knobs.Its a nice feature. **Q: Is the tone nob supposed to feel much looser than the volume nob?
