The dog has pushed it across the kitchen floor but so far hasn't been able to figure out how to open it. Unfortunately it is also hard for people with arthritis to open as well but it's worth the effort. ### ⭐ DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! *by H***. on September 12, 2018* If there was a zero star option, I would choose that. It definitely is not worth one star in terms of quality or effectiveness. This garbage can weighs maybe 5 lbs? The silver part slides & locks the lid in place. However, if you have a medium or large dog, they can either 1. Open the latch themselves or 2. Just drag the whole garbage can across the house so they can work on it in comfort. Our Springer Spaniel chose option 2... imagine coming home to a living room full of kitchen garbage all over the carpet. Garbage can lasted less than 5 hours. If he hadn’t scratched it while opening it I would have sent the thing back. Even when it’s full of garbage it’s so light that the whole garbage can moves when you step on the foot lever. This can is not even worth $20 let alone the price we paid for it.
