Like the YouTube video showed, it comes packaged in a semi-hard zippered storage case with recessed compartments for each of the components. You can run the scanner with your phone, or connected to your PC, or wireless using a wifi bridge that comes as part of the components. The handle contains the L-ion battery that powers the scanner, and if you are using your phone, it clips into a holder on the scanner handle. Download a controller app to your smartphone, and you're off to the races. I think I had everything set up and doing my first scan test within about fifteen minutes. It does a really good job of capturing fine details, and though I've only used it on smaller objects so far, it's also capable of scanning much larger items like the fronts of vehicles... old gravestones or plackards in historic sites... whatever you find interesting and would like to have a copy of. If you capture to your phone, you can send the file to your PC for post processing, or in my case, loading it into modeling software for 3D printing.
