## Overview

Shiloh Farms Organic Sorghum Grain offers a nutrient-dense, gluten-free whole grain sourced from an ancient cereal with over 8,000 years of history. Each 2-pack (16 oz each) delivers 32 servings of versatile, low glycemic, non-GMO grain that’s perfect for breakfast, cooking, or popping as a healthy snack. USDA Organic certified and ideal for those seeking a wholesome wheat alternative with a chewy texture and neutral flavor.

## Description

With its hearty, chewy texture and delicate, neutral flavor, SHILOH FARMS Sorghum is a versatile grain with a wide variety of uses. Because it adapts well to other flavors and is naturally gluten free, sorghum is especially useful in replacing wheat products in many recipes. Because it has a very thin hull, sorghum is typically eaten whole, meaning you get all of the nutrients of the natural whole grain. Sorghum is a valuable source of protein, fiber, iron, and magnesium and is relatively low on the glycemic index, making it a good option for diabetics. An ancient cereal grain, sorghum is thought to have originated in Northern Africa over 8,000 years ago. Packaged as part of a wheat-free rotation in a facility that also handles wheat, soy, & tree nuts (visit the Shiloh Farms website for additional information on their processing procedures)

Review: Nutritious and Versatile Grain - I've been incorporating Shiloh Farms' organic sorghum grain into my meals, and it's been a delightful addition. The grains are clean and cook up nicely with a pleasant, nutty flavor and chewy texture. It's a fantastic gluten-free alternative to other whole grains. I've used it in salads, soups, and even popped it like popcorn for a healthy snack. The quality is consistent, and I appreciate that it's USDA Organic certified. Overall, it's a great product for those looking to diversify their grain options with something wholesome and organic.
Review: Great stuff - I add this to my maltomeal or cream of rice depending on what I'm eating that morning. It adds good texture/flavor plus the extra health benefits make me feel like my carb heavy breakfast is a bit healthier. I tried chia seed in my breakfast and it gave me terrible acne, but I started using sorghum or millet instead for that extra texture/crunch and it doesn't harm my skin. I just boil it for a few minutes before adding the rest of the cereal. Makes it really good

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Think outside the box to add more flavor.
*by L***T on July 16, 2025*

Welll... so far I've cooked up one batch of sorghum. It's different. Not that it's horrible on it's own, it just doesn't seem to have a lot of flavor. We discussed what you could to add to it. Cook it in chicken or vegetable broth? Add gravy or cream of mushroom soup? Add onion, fresh mushrooms, parsley and some garlic --powder or fresh-- and maybe some chopped fresh broccoli? I've had it as a side dish with meat; I've added it to scrambled eggs with cheese. In all instances it was edible and depending on what else was added, actually became tasty. The texture is somewhat unique and you do really have to cook it for at least an hour or it won't be tender. Considering it has almost no lectins, I guess I'll keep buying and cooking--thinking outside the box to come up with flavorful ways to enhance. I'm thinking the next time I roast a whole chicken, I may add some previously cooked sorghum to cook in the juices---Hmmm. What about a pot roast with carrots, onion, mushrooms and sorghum? That might be really good. Don't be afraid to give it a try and to experiment a little with added ingredients
