The lids do not fit very well onto the cups, and will still spin even when they are locked down onto the rim of the cup. They occasionally leak when I drink my coffee, so I have gotten into the habit of double and triple checking for leaks before I take a sip. The plastic material of the lids is a harder, shinier plastic and is part of the reason why it's hard to lock onto the cup. This morning I had to go through two lids and two cups before I could get my coffee securely closed into a cup for my commute. The size is great. The lid doesn't leak at all but it isn't the easiest to drink out of.
