I bought it for my 11 yr old. I already own the Wedge and my son used it all of the time so I bought him a Grom. Now we have a frickin' blast body surfing together. We switch boards sometimes and I get great rides on the Grom and I'm not a small guy (weigh about 240 lbs). I grew up body surfing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and currently live in VA Beach. I'm about to buy another one as a birthday present for a close family friend. You won't regret this purchase - it helps make great beach memories. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must have for bodysurfers *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2020* I am experienced at body surfing and a lot of times when the waves are small to low medium sized they do not generate enough power to keep you at the crest of the breaking wave so you mostly ride white water after the wave breaks. Yesterday got my first chance to use The Grom and was very happy. The waves were in the 3 ft range but with very short periods between waves which drastically reduces the power they produce. The same as they were a week ago only this time with the Grom I was able to shoot down the face quicker and turn down the barrel for a much more exciting ride. I was carried farther and went faster easily double the distance than without it plus I was able to steer better on the wave. The little bit of buoyancy makes a huge difference. After a few waves you get the hang of it. Watch a few Slyde videos online for tips on how to maximize performance. Get a leash because it will get ripped off your hand once in awhile. The small size is great, easy to carry and fits in a backpack or under the seat of your car so it is always handy when you get time for an unexpected beach session. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun to ride, easier to carry than a boogie board. *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019* Took a few tries to figure it out, but loved it!! Rode more waves than anyone on the beach!!! Was able to ride 5 - 1 foot waves. Did great on all of them. Rode wave to shore. If you know how to body surf or boogie board, you will get this.
