My 5year old loved making the models and although the science bits are aimed at older kids, he was still interested and it made a great introduction to them. I liked how at the start of each section the book explains the science behind the model then after you had built it described real world applications of the device. A bit of all sorts covered, optical illusions, physics, history etc. There is a lot of encouragement and ideas to develop the models shown further. A nice selection of old school Lego technic, gears that properly fit together and beams you can build up from provided. The cardboard bits are a bit flimsy and once removed from the book are easily lost and damaged when it comes to remaking the models. Worth mentioning adding paper and card pieces to Lego contraptions is a great idea and one we hadn’t thought of before. Making your own and colouring in your own cardboard parts is a great idea and adds to the play value of this kit. Definitely recommended and good value for both the Lego and the educational value.
