    Easy, Enjoyable Reading

Charlie really had his hands full in this chapter of his library career. With a number of possible suspects for a growing pile of murders, Charlie suddenly  slips into someone's crosshairs.  I enjoy his easy going manner, but when he or the people he cares about are threatened, he can be uncharacteristically directive!  I enjoyed the story, wish I had my own Azalea and love Diesel's constant participation.  I do feel that too many details around motives and who did what were left to the end in the wrapup. I would have liked more of them to have been woven into discovery earlier in the story without, of course, giving away the culprits.  Good story though.

Charlie Harris who works part-time at theUniversity of Athena’s archive section has aMaine Coon cat, Diesel. Diesel goes almosteverywhere Charlie goes. Everyone loves tosee Diesel. Well almost everyone, except forthe new interim library director, Oscar Reilly.Reilly wants to cut cost and the archive andthe rare book collection is one of the targets.Reilly is a very annoying person who seems toraise issues with all the staff.Then Reilly turns up dead.Charlie and Diesel jump right into the investigationwhen Melba at the library comes under suspicion.After Reilly’s death, Charlie is appointed interimdirector. In his new role he starts looking intovarious happenings at the library such as whythe old director up and left his position abruptly,the financial statements, one of his co-workerswho is very defiant, a stranger hanging outsidethe library.thus leading to Charlie being shot atplus his windshield shattered.This is book # 7 in the Cat in the Stacks Mysteryseries.
