## Description

MiiCoffee DF54 single dose coffee grinder is entry level flat burr coffee grinder. It integrated the best elements from DF64 II but is made into a smaller package. The three seated position for the upper burr carrier integrated wave spring makes the grinding chamber absolutely stable. At the same time it achieves minimal retention at the new level. The exit chute is equipped with plasma generator (aka Ionizer) that reduces static to non-existent. DF54 comes with custom made stainless steel 54mm flat burrs that deliver a fluffy grind with minimal clumping and consistent particle size distribution. The integrated Anti-popcorn cover help increase grinding speed.

Review: Excellent, quiet and easy to fully extract all grounds! - Absolutely amazing grinder for the money. Too bad my cat ate the rubber portafilter holder while I was away 🥹
Review: Even after a year - Still is a perfect grinder that are affordable - After a lot of research on which coffee grinder to buy, and after using the Sage Smart Grinder Pro for a few months, I decided to buy the DF54. Since I only use lighter-roasted Specialty coffee for espresso, the Sage Smart Grinder Pro did not work well. It is good for normal medium or dark-roasted coffee purchased from the supermarket, but with light-roasted specialty coffee it often got stuck (choked), sometimes it could not grind the coffee finely enough, and if it succeeded, it was on setting 1-3 out of 60 available (with the internal setting on 3 out of 10 degrees, he couldn't do less than that because otherwise, the conical burr touched one from the other). In addition, it had a huge retention (0.5-1.0g), unacceptable, until I got an excellent bellows by Fused Line (then retention was from 0.1-0.3g without cleaning, but inside the grinder always stays 2-3g of old coffee). However, to get to the point of this review, because of the above, I decided that I don't want to have these various problems anymore and I was thinking about the DF64 or Niche Zero model, which is currently a bit out of my price range. However, in these few months, DF54 appeared and since then I looked at all possible reviews, and concluded that it could be the one I wanted. Even though I came across several negative comments, especially on desertcart, I still ordered it as soon as it was available. Since it is apparently in high demand, I had to wait more than a month for it to be delivered, but that's fine. I've had it for more than a week now and so far everything is flawless. I hope it will stay that way for at least the next couple of years. So far it hasn't had any problems with choking, although I only use various light to medium-roasted single-origin specialty coffee. On average, I grind for espresso on a setting between 12 and 20 of 90 settings, depending on the type of coffee. So it can grind much finer than it grinds now. Retention during the first grinding (new grinder or after cleaning) was approximately. 0.3g, everything after that is practically zero, or sometimes 0.1g, all with a few pressures on the bellows. Without the use of bellows, it is about 0.1g. That's a great result for any grinder, especially after experiencing of using the Sage grinder. With humidity in the apartment between 40-50%, I have no problem with static electricity and the grinder is really clean. It dispenses coffee very consistently, without lumps. It works pretty quietly while grinding, and almost silently without coffee. And when it is without the lid, it does not throw the beans or anything inside out thanks to the anti-popcorn disc. I've seen many people comment in video reviews that the bellows fall off easily, but that's not true. Because the bellows have different sides, up and bottom sides, and the difference is visible from the inside, so if it's positioned as intended, it won't fall off the top of the grinder. In any case, I can't find any flaws so far. I hope it will remain so in the future. In addition to all of the above, I brew coffee on a Gaggia Classic Pro (built-in PID and variable preinfusion, 9 bar springs, and IMS Competition and BigBang baskets), and I can only say that with this grinder, the coffee is incomparably better, creamier, better body than before with other grinders. The conclusion is that this (after ten days of use) is a superb grinder for a very affordable price. And the DF54 grinder's build and look are exceptional. 07/2025 UPDATE after a year of using: After more than a year of using this grinder, I can confirm that everything still works perfectly. A few months ago, I checked for the first time the gap between burrs, and it was pretty balanced. I do a very small correction on one side, but nothing significant. I just need to put 2 small pieces of aluminium foil below the screw of the burr on the upper part of the grinder, that one that had no rotation (you can see it in the picture). But that is normal when using this grinder daily, at least a few times per day. Note: I use only high-quality specialty coffee, light to light/medium roasted, so the coffee beans are slightly harder than regular coffee, but so far without any problems or burr choking. I hope that all remain the same in the future. I highly recommend this grinder.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do I avoid the clogging and static issue?**
A: Over time grounds might be stuck inside the exit chute and performance of ionizer is downgraded. The prodcut comes with a cleaning brush. Cleaning the exit chute using the cleaning brush once a week is required to keep performance & avoid clogging.

**Q: How do I get grinder unclogged?**
A: Please use the included allen key to take off the dial indicator and then turn the adjustment dial counter-clockwise until it comes off. Clean all the remaining coffee from grinding chamber and exit chute. Put on the dial and turn clockwise.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far so good...
*by G***D on 17 September 2024*

1 Month Update: I still really love this grinder. Best value purchase for the grind quality you get. After about 1-2 weeks of use, I noticed more static in the grinds, but a simple clean with the included chute brush resolved this and it's back to clean static free output. I've also started to spray my light roast beans, but not necessary for dark to medium roasts. I still love the look and how sturdy yet quiet it is. I also recommend hot starting for grinding to help maintain grind consistency. No clogging issues whatsoever. You can't go wrong with this grinder if you're looking for something for home that provides a quality grind to elevate your espresso journey. Original review: I wasn't one of the early adopters of the DF54, so I had to wait for the next batch shipment to be available so I could get my hands on one. My previous grinder was a Baratza Encore that barely met standards in terms of a good espresso grind (very inconsistent, muddy flavors), which it wasn't really designed for. I've read some of the complaints of the DF54 in terms of the zero point and static issues and I have to say so far I have none of those issues. Maybe they tweaked the manufacturing to address some of the prior issues to improve Quality Control on these latest arrivals. 1. My DF54 right out of the box hasn't had any static issues yet, even when grinding light roasts (which tend to have more static than darker roasts). 2. The Zero Point was spot on. Just turning the dial a hair past "0" was where the gear "chirping" happened, so I'm happy with this calibration. 3. First few grinds had a little bit of retention, but after that and using the bellows, the final grind comes to +/- 0.1g from the initial beans dosed. 4. Some video reviews talked about how the bellows come off too easily from the grinder, but with mine, the bellows are fairly snug that if I try to remove them, the "anti-popcorning" cap slips out with it, so seems everything fits well together. I haven't check the burr alignment on this unit, but so far I don't feel like I need to. For Espresso grinds, I have it set in the vicinity of 20, and my shots so far have produced wonderful clarity for fruity notes, but enough smoothness for flavors like vanilla. Very satisfied with my purchase. I really love the compact design, the quiet operation and pairs well with my Bambino Plus. I'll provide an update in 1 month.
