It's not completely waterproof, but has protected me against many grease pops and dishwater splashes. Short of turning the sink sprayer on yourself, it's good! The adjustable neck strap is a smooth fabric that feels like rayon(?), nothing to irritate. The ties are long enough to comfortably double around my size 14 waist. All 3 pockets are good quality and easily hold your phone, notepad, kitchen gadget, etc. Also, it looks great! Black with white pinstripes make everyone look like a cooking pro.
