I’m using baking soda **Q: What if it flashes on and off?** A: When it flashed on/off it's means that the water is evaporating. Add a little bit more water from the opening on the top but not too much. This will keep the light steady. Hope this works. **Q: does this have a usb port to charge a phone?** A: No, it doesn't. But USB port of most of other water battery lantern don't have enough power capacity to charge smart phone, so USB port on such a device is useless. **Q: Where do I get additional metal rods/cells to replace the old or bad ones? Do I have to buy a whole new unit instead of replacing the rods/cells?** A: westmarine.com sells the refill Magnesium core for the Aqua Lamp. I'm assuming this is a knock off of that lantern as it looks almost identical, so leave the "p" out of Aqupa and do a google search for the Aqua Lamp. You should find it there.
