On its own or with an ice cube it starts smooth and sweet, cloves, bitter orange and herby with bitter finish. We added a double to tonic and loved it. Also we tried with ginger ale which was my fave. Another friend preferred it with a rosso non alcoholic mixer (pictured) and soda. Seems to mix well with a lot of things.
