Review: Natural mouth wash that actually has an effect - I'm copy-pasting my review from another listing of a single bottle of the exact same product: The flavour of this stuff takes some getting used to, as it's less "minty-fresh", and more "medicinal". That said, it's far from unpleasant. It's a curiously aromatic, slightly sweet flavour reminiscent of cloves. Importantly, it's not a strong taste at all. However, to me the important thing is whether it's effective at keeping my mouth healthy with a reduced list of synthetic ingredients. The taste is secondary. What I love about it, is it seems to have a breath-freshening/germ-killing and anti-plaque action without burning and stinging. Although it contains no fluoride, one of the herbal extracts ("Toothbrush Tree" or Salvadora) is reportedly beneficial to gum health and dental hygiene. I figure that as long as my toothpaste (usually Kingfisher but currently Tom's of Maine) contains some fluoride, this should be alright. I have noticed that this mouthwash sometimes forms "bits" that you can see in the sink when you spit it out. I have experimented and noticed that if I use it before brushing, there are more bits. After brushing, there are less. After brushing and flossing with a Waterpik, less still. From this, I can only conclude that it somehow loosens and coagulates with bacteria, tartar, and/or food-particles, allowing you to remove more than mere brushing and flossing alone. It therefore does indeed perform the modest list of claims it says on the bottle - and more. I want to use milder products with more natural ingredients in them. Many synthetics are of course perfectly safe - but we've evolved for a million years as a species in the presence of natural compounds that have undergone minimal processing. If we make use of these before needing to resort to synthetics, we're both minimising our environmental impact, and exposing ourselves to less things that we're simply not used to dealing with (on an evolutionary timescale). I could just be sensitive, but I came to this conclusion because I noticed that a lot of modern products either sting/burn, or dull my senses. Conventional toothpaste and mouthwash dry out my face around my mouth to the point that the skin is like bleeding sandpaper. I don't want to put something that has that effect inside my mouth!! In the search to find a gentle alternative that still keeps my gnashers strong and my breath like roses, I think I've found the best mouthwash in Sarakan.
Review: Great taste - A quality, very refreshing mouthwash, without any of the overly sharp taste of any of the more commercially available products.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: According to last in ingredients list the sarakan toothpaste is genetically engineered. is the mouthwash genetically engineered to!?**
A: Not sure. Have changed to a different toothpaste and Mouthwash

**Q: What flavour**
A: Hi Rebecca it's more or less a mint flavour mouthwash it's very good with no fluoride but does have a kick to it like a sharp taste. Use it with the fluoride free toothpaste.

**Q: Hi! is sarakan mouth rinse (listed as a 3-pack) the same as this anti-plaque mouthwash? also what are the ingredients of either/both? thank you.**
A: Refer to manufacturers website for ingredients. Three pack is 3 bottle in the pack!

**Q: Hi, does this mouthwash sting/burn? I'm very sensitive to mouthwashes as they tend to leave small blisters around the edge of my tongue.**
A: It doesn't affect me and I have used it for several years. Because I, too, have a sensitive mouth, I always put some mouthwash into a half glass of water and rinse with that. I can't use any mouthwash neat from the bottle but watering down works well. I have used several different mouthwashes over time but I find this one suits me best. You might find that you are OK with your existing mouthwash providing you water it down. I know the instructions always say to use it neat but I have never been able to do that.Hope that helps.Sharron

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great taste
*by M***. on 6 September 2025*

A quality, very refreshing mouthwash, without any of the overly sharp taste of any of the more commercially available products.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great alcohol-free herbal mouthwash.
*by C***. on 24 July 2014*

This is a gentle herbal mouthwash with a soft mint flavour that doesn't do much to curb plaque and tartar, but is very nice for freshening your mouth in the morning or throughout the day. We attempted for a while to use it as our sole mouthwash due to my partner's preference for this over the TheraNeem mouthwash, but unfortunately felt that we were getting more plaque buildup with this alone. We like to use this one in the mornings and Organix South's TheraNeem at night (please see my review). This combo keeps our teeth and gums feeling great, with reduced sensitivity. It would be a nice natural alternative for someone who cannot stand the flavour of the TheraNeem but with the caveat that it may not be quite as effective on its own (when used in conjunction with regular flossing and fluoride-free toothpaste).
