I made sure to read all the reviews and knew what I was paying for. That said, these beans were great for what I needed them for. For making vanilla. Not for baking with or cooking with or anything else. They are split, so while there are still beans in them, it's not like getting a whole bean. They were not dried out nor were they moldy. I would buy them again in a heart beat. If I was still making large batch vanilla Ice Cream I would buy them for that as well. Do not buy these if you are hoping to get a cheap alternative to the whole beans, you will be disappointed.
