I was a beginer with powertools and i found this cutter ok. But later i began to feel unsafe with its very dangerous kick backs sometimes. It is not a variable speed machine like a drill. It has only a powerfull constant speed which is dangerous while starting to cut wood. Your hand should be strong enough to hold it tight and pressed against wood surface, otherwise it will kick back - imagine such a powerfull tool with sharp teeth blades just jumbing off the wood towards you!! Also, its cutting or saw side is left. If normally you are a rigjt hander, to cut wood you have to hold the wood with your left hand. Then comes the issue - blade is at left side, so that crossing position is very very dangerous. The cut or trim piece of wood goes from right side of work piece. Second issue here - no base plate support there at left side of machine, so you have to hold the machine firmly carrying all its weight with your hand, to avoid kick back. If you are a professional, you can easily understand everything i posted here. But if you are a beginer, as i was 4 years ago, this is not a wood cutter, its only suitable for matble, tiles and stones. If you want to cut wood, go for 7 inchcircular saw at a much higher price.
