Review: The best Value vs Quality balance I've found - I'm now on my 2nd box of these, I'm pretty fussy with my coffee but the recent cost of pods had me looking for a compromise so I took a punt on these and I'm pretty happy that I did. Like for like with the genuine Lavazza pods then the Lavazza (Passionalle) wins but it's one of those things that you get used to the 'new' flavour and doesn't matter too much just as I got used to the Lavazza flavour. The strength is perhaps its weakness (pun intended) as it's not quite strong enough for me as a lungo (larger cup) or americano so I had to set my machine to provide a smaller amount of water and it makes great Cappuccino now, the flavour is not bitter so it also makes a nice black coffee. As much as I would love to afford genuine Lavazza I just don't think they are worth the money compared to these, best way I can put it is: Scale of 1 to 10: Flavour: Lavazza 9/10 - Amorcaffe 7.5/10 Strength: Lavazza (Passionalle) 9/10 - Amorcaffe Intenso 8/10 Smoothness: Lavazza 9/10 - Amorcaffe 9/10 Value: Lavazza 6.5/10 - Amorcaffe 9/10 Obviously it's just my opinion but highlights why I am now buying Amorcaffe over Lavazza. On the pod quality, I haven't had a single duff one in the first box of 100 and I can tell no difference between these and Lavazza and they seem to produce the same excess water in the used pod tray. I mentioned this in my review. I wouldn't order them again for that reason. Far too much plastic going to landfill, so I would stick with original Lavazza pods which are made from compostable corn starch. **Q: What strength the red ones? I like strong for cappuccino. There are purple ones too but no strenght number. Thanks.** A: I would use 2 capsules at least. This coffee is OK but not really strong enough for my taste and the crema is poor. I bought the Lavazza machine a while ago on a whim while it was heavily discounted, and this is the second set of compatible pods I've bought. My first set of pods from a different producer were ok and certainly a lot cheaper than the genuine ones. I was going for the same again but when I searched Amazon they were not going to be avaiable for a couple of weeks, so having seen other reviews I thought I'd try these Amorcaffee (Intenso) pods. In short, I AM GLAD I DID! For a start these are just the pods in a box and not additional wrappers, so take far less spece and produce far less waste. They were alao a bit cheaper, which is always a plus. Flavour wise I prefer the tast of these. I must however point out that although I enjoy a 'black' coffee, I have found with this machine and any pod I've tried, the best I get is a small shot 1/3 cup before it starts to run clearer and can become a bit bitter. As I enjoy a longer drink I could use three pods, but would probably not sleep for a week, so I make a very passable 'Latte', two thirds of a cup of milk in the microwave for 45 seconds, then fill it up with the coffee from the pod/machine.
