Well made and good value for price. However it is still an old fashioned spinning disc drive and therefore quite slow compared to more modern drives.

The build quality feels extremely solid and durable, and the rugged design gives extra confidence when traveling or working on location. Transfer speeds have been reliable and consistent, especially when handling large video projects and high-resolution photo backups. The USB-C connectivity works smoothly with modern laptops and editing setups, and the large 6TB capacity provides plenty of space for professional workflows and long-term storage. As someone who works regularly with photo and video production, dependable storage is critical, and this drive has performed very well so far. It’s compact enough for travel while still feeling durable enough for demanding field use. ### ⭐ Unreliable, poor design and poor customer service.

I ordered this in November of 2024, and it died in May of 2026. I only use this for backups of my laptop, and I don't move it around. My laptop no longer recognized it. I tried another laptop and had the same result. I sent it in under warranty and it was delivered to their location on 5/14/2026. The return status on the Western Digital site still says “Pending Return” almost a month later. I contacted them several times and received 2 responses. I have not received any response since June 1. They seem to be ghosting me. I can’t recommend this drive because it appears that the warranty response is either very slow or non-existent. Several others have made comments on Reddit about poor Western Digital customer service. I recommend purchasing Seagate drives. Update on 7/6/2026: They finally got back to me indicating the drive was tampered with, and it voids the warranty. I needed to remove the rubber on the outside to get the serial number. While removing the rubber the flimsy plastic ends came loose. I will never again get a WD drive. Unreliable, poor design and poor customer service. I wish I could give it negative stars.
