The CIQ-100 is an advanced cable qualifier. It tests a cable and determines if it's capable of operating at 10/100/1000 bits/sec. It does other checks including crosstalk and impedance faults. It's the most thorough test of a cable you can do with an instrument under $10k. The LRAT-1000/2000 do basic cable testing but not to the level of the CIQ-100. The LRAT units are network testers. They tell you if the network is active, they try to get a DHCP IP address, and they will make test TCP/IP connections to sites you configure for AutoTest mode. If your network isn't operating properly and units aren't connecting to the Internet, the LRAT will tell you what's wrong with the network. I use my LRAT-1000 10 times as often as the CIQ-100. Anytime a network is down or a device isn't connecting, I immediately plug in the LRAT to see what's going on. **Q: Does it test next** A: Do not buy. Built like a toy. Both of my units failed within 3 years of purchase. Fluke is willing to "warranty" them for 3 years for about half of what I paid for them new to make them work again. By comparison my 16 year old DSP-4000 still works like a charm. Fluke meters used to be built like a tool. Now that they don't have any competition the build quality is crap. I am very nervous about what to buy to upgrade or add testers for my techs. **Q: How do i use the discover mode?** A: Thank you for your question. The discover mode is used to measure the length of the cable or the distance to the nearest fault. Simply set the dial to Discover and then attach a cable to the Cable IQ and the other end to the Cable IQ Wiremap adapter. You will then see a wiremap of the pairs of the cable (if the cable is shielded the tester will show the shield on the right side of the screen). If you wish to test coax with, press F2 and connect the coax cable to the coax ports on the cable IQ and the wiremap adapter. **Q: Will this test cat5 ?** A: Thank you for your question. Meter paid for itself by more than double it's cost because of faults documented in the Fluke qualification testing report software. Sweetest refund ever at closing from the builder.
