I'm pretty sure this little beauty has everything you could want in a book - a unique setting during the War of 1812in Canada and the north eastern United States, a capable, determined heroine, a brave soldier, an awesome cast of side characters that you can't help but love, a villain that deserves a facer (or a bajillion), action, suspense, and one of the sweetest romances ever. Seriously, what more could you want? Abigail and Emmett were so good for each other. I loved their character growth throughout the story as they began on opposite sides of the war (Abigail being Canadian with a brother in the British army and Emmett being a captain in the American army and all) and quickly recognized each other as people worthy of friendship and love instead of enemies. If this book isn't on your TBR lists already, it definitely deserves a place there! With a historical setting in the middle of winter weaves the perfect setting for this story to unfold with themes as courage, trust, resilient, strength, patience, determination, problem/conflict, pain, and a delightful clean romance.
