It features the high sensitivity of a condenser microphone, but exhibits the smoother frequency response and excellent transient response of a ribbon microphone. The R102 active aluminum ribbon microphone consists of two parts: an electromagnetic transducer and an impedance conversion circuit. Also *by A***M on Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2015* It's warm sound is excellent. Also, it's nice to not have to find a mic input that doesn't have Phantom power enabled. This needs Phantom power in able to work. The only thing I don't like is the gaudy label they stuck on the front of the microphone's plastic carrying case. It makes the mic look cheap when it's in the case. I think an aluminum vertical case would have been better. I fear storing a ribbon microphone for long periods of time horizontally.
