Stir it into the surrounding soil in the soil and then place the plant into the hole. Cover with regular soil. I also spread it sparingly around strawberries and fruit trees. The phosphate was mixed into other amendments when I fertilized these plants. A soil test showed that my soil was lacking this mineral.
