Review: Good idea but I fell off the back - I came across these folding stools in a small art gallery, available for use by visitors who, like me, can't stand for too long. They are well made and sturdy and light weight, so are easy to move from one location to another. There are various sizes available and being quite short (4'10" tall) I plumped for the short size. In practice I would have been better off with the next size up as the seat is just a little too low for me to sit down on and get up from with ease. Because of the nature of the lightweight design, to be safe it is best if you grasp each handle firmly as you lower yourself onto the seat, and again when ready to raise yourself to stand up. I was caught out when I didn't do this in a shop when about to stand up, I wasn't concentrating, held on with only one hand, lost my balance and fell off the back, hitting my head on a shelf beside me , on the way down. I was considerably shaken and found I had acquired a large egg like bump on the top of my head. I was concerned because I had to drive some 20 miles home on busy roads. The proprietors needed to fill in accident forms to record my fall, were kind and offered to call an ambulance etc. I decided to wait for an hour of so, had coffee and a sandwich before asking my husband to arrange for me to be collected. In the end, having phoned my my husband and discussed the options, I drove cautiously home and suffered no ill effects. I have recounted this episode to simply underline the fact that care must be taken when selecting the size, and the concentration required when using this really useful folding seat. My accident was clearly my fault, and although the seat is in the back of my car, I haven't used this since. I will need to have this in the house for a while and use it frequently to get my confidence back. I would certainly recommend the seat with the rider that it needs to be used with care.

I came across these folding stools in a small art gallery, available for use by visitors who, like me, can't stand for too long.
