Also when I opened the power supply I discovered that the 120 volt thermal breaker is 20 amps = 2,400 watts max...way short for 50L Braumeister The 240 volt thermal breaker is 10 amps = 2,400 watts max. If you are using this in the usa you can only use a maximum of 1800 watts because the line cord is #14 awg, 15 amps maximum input, and you need 16 amps minimum continuous that limits the 240 volts to a maximum output of 1800 watts. (If you try to increase the line amps past 15 amps on the cord you could risk a fire hazard, But many usa homes have 20 amp, 120 volts outlets so feel the cord and plug and make sure it doesn't get hot ! ) If you are using this at 240 volt x 10 amps = 2400 watts maximum input limit before the thermal breaker activates. Also I tested the neutral on the input cord and it matches with the neutral on the outputs such as the 120 volt socket and on the universal socket. At first I ran it with 120v, but ran slow. Then I ran a 240 line to the mill and things were peachy. The VFD I have will take anything from single phase 120, split or single phase 240, or 3 phase input and output 3 phase. The output voltage is determined by what it fed into it. I moved, and always intended on running 240 to the mill again, but I really didnt want to break walls open, so I considered a spindle motor upgrade that could take 120. After looking at the price of the project, decided on just getting a step up transformer to test.First test popped the GFCI (didnt know it was GFCI at the time). Not surprising, as thats a known issue with VFDs.
