I tried two wifi routers on my network that both have 2.4Ghz Wifi connections and it would not connect to either. I have a cheap repeater that I use to connect my wired network generator to my wifi network (don't have to run cables to it) that I was finally able to connect it to. If not for my repeater I am afraid I would have had to return the controller and wifi device. It shouldn't be this difficult. But with this difficulty aside, the device / app is bulletproof, it works great! Review: Will not connect to 2.4 . To complicated to set up. - Unit will not connect. I spent hours making all kinds of changes to router 2.4 won't connect. The unit will not switch to local mode per the instructions. I basically have a 50.00 paperweight.
