It is light and easy to carry and small enough to fit on my pantry shelf. Was surprised the saw blade rotates rather slowly, my husband's work saw blades rotate much much faster. If the blade rotated faster, the slicing would be faster, but that might make the machine vibrate. I will be using this slicer on a weekly basis for homemade bread so it should last me for many years.
