Their purpose is to strengthen the area where the fitting grips onto the pipe. When the push-fit fitting is fully over the pipe, the fitting has a collar to turn clockwise in order to lock the fitting onto the pipe. Without the use of liners or super seals, their is a risk of crushing the pipe when tightening the collar. This will greatly increase your chance of a leak or a fitting blowing off the pipe. Hope this helps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well designed and sealed insert for 22mm plastic pipe *by S***E on 26 November 2024* Very easy to use insert for 22mm polypipe with push fit connectors.
