Review: Fun children's book for the whole family - I was first introduced to 'Alcatraz vs. The Evil Librarians' on a long car journey with my partner and our then 9 year old. The audiobook was free with my Audible subscription so I downloaded it. I didn't know what to expect but within minutes we were all laughing and the audiobook kept us entertained for the entire trip. I highly recommend the audiobook as the voice acting is brilliant especially the voice of Grandpa Smedry - our favourite character whose special skill is being late for things - but it is great to have the full set in print. Our son is now 10 and I suggested this box set as a Christmas present as its much better value than purchasing the books individually. He is currently reading book one and sometimes reads it aloud to us for his school reading. It says everything that he doesn't stop at just a few pages when reading aloud to us bit keeps going as the story is so fun. He also really likes the illustrations. Brandon Sanderson is an absolute genius as I know his adult books are hugely popular but for me this is one of the best children's books I think I've come across, other than from my favourite ones by Diana Wynne Jones. So far I haven't found 'The Scriveners Bones' quite as enthralling but we're only part way through and the overarching plot has yet to unfold.
