Made from high-quality, non-GMO safflower seeds, it offers a low-fat, plant-based diet suitable for all bird life stages, ensuring a vibrant and pest-free backyard bird feeding experience. ## Description Wagner's Safflower Seed - Cardinals love it, most squirrels don’t. Wagner's Safflower Seed is a great way to attract the birds you want - Cardinals, Chickadees, Titmice, Grosbeaks - and discourage the "feeder hogs", like Grackles and Starlings, that keep them away. And best of all, squirrels generally don’t like the bitter taste so they will stay away as well. If you have unwanted birds and squirrels crowding out your songbirds we recommend gradually filling your feeder with Wagner’s Safflower Seed for a period of time, then gradually mixing in your favorite Wagner’s Premium Wild Bird Food. Wagner’s Safflower Seed is truly a premium, high value seed not found in ordinary blends. So give the Cardinals their favorite seed and keep the pests away at the same time, with Wagner’s Safflower Seed. Trust your backyard birds to the experts at Wagner’s. Review: wild birds came down in flocks when I put it out. They loved it, and I very much enjoyed the show. - wild birds came down in flocks when I put it out. They loved it, and I very much enjoyed the show. Cheap entertainment! So far I have not seen any flowers grow from lost seeds, but with all bird seeds (from experience) now I hang the feeder over the corner of the garden where I plant wild flowers. It is a lovely plant, I hope some do grow! Review: Must be premo safflower, top bird choice - House Finches seem to live off this year around, like every day. My DIY Ring feeder captures mother finches feeding fledglings the safflower throughout the breeding season. Mourning Doves, Cardinals, and Catbirds (Catbirds believe it or not eat it whole) are regular consumers. Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, and Nuthatches also come in for it. Wrens like to root around in it, maybe they find little bugs. Best of all, House Sparrows and Starlings detest it. The hulls do not make too much of a mess and seem to disintegrate in the lawn fast. Wagner has something going on with this seed, highly recommended, especially if you want to feed but have House Sparrow or Starling pressures. ## Features - Made in the USA - A favorite seed of Cardinals and other songbirds - Highest quality grains used - Found in many gourmet mixes - Most squirrels generally dislike this seed ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B004477AOO | | Additional Features | Deters squirrels with bitter taste | | Age Range Description | All Life Stages | | Age range (description) | All Life Stages | | Allergen Information | Peanuts may contain | | Animal Food Diet Type | Plant-Based | | Animal Food Ingredient Claim | Non-GMO | | Animal Food Nutrient Content Claim | Low Fat | | Best Sellers Rank | #39,685 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #626 in Bird Food | | Brand | Wagner's | | Brand Name | Wagner's | | Breed Recommendation | All Breed Sizes | | Container Type | Bag | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 13,122 Reviews | | Flavor | Safflower Seeds | | Flavour | Safflower Seeds | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00070805570756, 00765829971619 | | Item Form | Seeds | | Item Type Name | Safflower Seed Wild Bird Food | | Item Weight | 5 Pounds | | Item form | Seeds | | Manufacturer | Wagner's | | Manufacturer Part Number | 57075 | | Model Number | 57075 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Package Size Name | 5-Pound Bag | | Pet Type | Bird | | Product Benefits | Attracts birds like cardinals and repels squirrels | | Recommended Uses For Product | Attracting Cardinals, Discouraging Squirrels | | Special Ingredients | Safflower seed | | Special ingredients | Safflower seed | | Specific Uses For Product | Attracting Cardinals, Discouraging Squirrels | | Specific uses for product | Attracting Cardinals, Discouraging Squirrels | | Target Species | Squirrel | | UPC | 074748330545 765829971619 070805570756 | | Unit Count | 80 Ounce | ## Product Details - **Age range (description):** All Life Stages - **Brand:** Wagner's - **Flavour:** Safflower Seeds - **Item form:** Seeds - **Specific uses for product:** Attracting Cardinals, Discouraging Squirrels ## Images ![57075 Safflower Seed Wild Bird Food, 5 Pound (Pack of 1) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81izIQn+LvL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does wild bird food by wagner's cause weeds to grow under feeder?** A: I do not have weeds under my tray feeder. However, I only put a handful of seeds in the tray feeder once a day. The birds usually eat all the seed - if seeds drop on the ground they are eaten by the birds. **Q: Do house sparrows like this seed ? I hope not** A: Generally, sparrows are not big fans of safflower seed. I mix this with black oil sunflower seed and sunflower hearts and chips, which brings grosbeaks, cardinals, house finches, purple finches, flickers, and woodpeckers. Squirrels are also repelled by safflower seed and leave this feeder alone. **Q: does it take a long time to be discovered? Nobody likes this stuff** A: The song birds like the safflower. I started using it because the blackbirds do not like it, and they were cleaning out my feeders quickly. The cardinals, house and chipping sparrows and several other species like the safflower. **Q: Want to entice cardinals specifically. i use this & want to attract more cardinals. what other seeds can i add to attract cardinals specifically?** A: Cardinals do like sunflower seeds. The problem with these though, they attract squirrels and black birds. I use ONLY safflower seeds in my feeders. Hope this helps you! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ wild birds came down in flocks when I put it out.
