The unit did take a little time to construct, but nothing any competent DIYer couldn't easily cope with, one word of advice is to work out which piece is referred to in the instructions as some are very similar to others with just a few holes more/less that you don't notice till you've built most of it and then have to disassemble to correct the mistake. Once constructed, the unit is very stable and looks great with led's, I used my own as I wanted to connect up to my Hue network. Would highly recommend.
