I'm shocked this worked for other people who said they removed 10-20 negative items from their report. I could not get any of the bureaus to remove even one report from my first set of letters. I did have luck disputing a collection online via CreditKarma/Experian after the company sent me proof of payment. I used the "Paid off" reason code and all 3 removed the collection. This isn't to say this method doesn't work, but after sending the first round of letters nothing was removed for me. ----Old---- (November 14, 2024) Just sent round one of my dispute letters to all 3 bureaus! After paying off collections and charged off accounts my FICO/Vantage scores are about 640/650s. I’m hoping that removing the negative accounts entirely will put me in the 700s! I followed Brandon’s method so far and will update my review in a few weeks now that I have shipped the letters. I would have hoped for more context around how to deal with existing debt, what the specific timelines should be between sending each letter, and what you can be doing to improve credit as you wait for decisions like credit builder loans etc. Removing bad stuff from your report is good but you also need to add good stuff! Happy so far with what I learned from following the process so far.
