A narrow hatch opening, a steep ladder, and nothing solid to hold at the critical moment of stepping through β€” it's a combination that sends thousands of people to A&E every year. The Bison Products Loft Hatch Safety Rail eliminates that risk by giving you a full-height, full-width steel balustrade frame around your hatch opening β€” a proper, stable structure to grip throughout the entire transition between ladder and loft floor. Unlike a basic single grab rail, this is a complete 1m x 1m steel frame that stands around the hatch opening on both sides, with an adjustable base width of 50cm to 75cm to fit the vast majority of standard UK loft hatch frames straight out of the box. Available in a sleek Black finish that complements modern loft spaces, it installs securely with the supplied hardware and requires only two standard tools. Rated 5 stars by verified buyers, this is the loft safety upgrade that homeowners, landlords, and property developers are choosing to make loft access genuinely safe for every member of the household. KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS Full 1m x 1m Steel Balustrade Frame – A complete structural safety rail on both sides of the hatch opening, not just a single grab bar. Review: Excellent Product - It took me some time to get around to fitting, I wish I’d done it sooner. This is a sturdy guard that makes lift access safe and easy. It came with all screws , nuts, bolts and washers. It can be adjusted to fit various sized openings and was very easy to fit the whole process taking less than ten minutes using normal d.i.y tools. Sturdy and wobble free this is a good value product that really does the job it is designed for. Review: Does the job easy to fit. - People had mixed views on the safety rail but we have found it works and is very sturdy and if you happened to step back to far it will stop you .We lifted the boards so we could make sure we screwed into beams and it feels absolutely fine . Glad we got it as now all safety checked in loft.Screws we're good for us. ## Features - The Surround Rail can fit most attic stairs openings-dimensions for the balustrade are the height 1 ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Manufacturer | BWT | | Part Number | 9387444 | | Package Dimensions | 102 x 102 x 8 cm; 9.6 kg | | Manufacturer reference | 9387444 | | Colour | Black | | Material | metal | | Item Package Quantity | 1 | | Batteries included? | No | | Batteries Required? | No | | Item Weight | 9.6 kg | ## Images ![The Deluxe Metal Loft Surround Rail-Balustrade - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/816vMIPv5RL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is the surround only suitable with loft ladders that don't extend into the loft?** A: The surround only has three sides. I use a ladder that folds up into the loft. Its a five star product and I would recommend it to every one that has a loft ladder. and is so easy to install. **Q: Fixing screws what size would I require?** A: 5 x75 mm wood screws **Q: Can anyone tell us please what the 8cms refer to in the product description? Thank you** A: I believe 8 cm is a little under 4 inches - and if I am correct then I would say this measurement refers to the "feet" of the rail. Hope this assists. **Q: My loft opening is approx. 70cm wide by 130cm. Will this be big enough to go around the opening?** A: Probably not, the fixing holes are at 72cm centre to centre so would just do but the length is only 100cm so it would not provide a hand hold at the top of the loft ladder, it would be short by 30cm. The rail fits our standard loft opening and we love it as it gives us a lot of confidence going in and out of the loft. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Product *by K***N on 22 December 2017* It took me some time to get around to fitting, I wish I’d done it sooner.
