Review: So far, so good - I use these to hold back shower curtains that protect my cats' outdoor "catio" from bad weather. They really whip around when they are open on nice days that are windy, because they aren't fully anchored in that position. I wanted something that would adhere well, that I could cut to any length, that I could staple to a wood surface, and would be easy to open and close when I want to keep the curtains aside, stable and compact. I love that I can cut this to any length, don't need separate hook and loop strap pieces, and that the metal "buckle" is apparently coated against rust. At first, I stapled the wrong side (non-loop) of the strap toward the wood and found that it was cumbersome to try to fasten and unfasten it. I then realized what I'd done incorrectly, removed all eight straps and re-stapled them with the loop side facing out. Now it's easy to feed the strap through the metal "buckle" and fasten it to adhere to itself. It worked great on a windy day just a couple of days ago. I will update this review if anything changes, but so far, I'm very satisfied.

**Q: what type of metal?**
A: Hi, it is made of iron and then electroplated with nickel for added rust and wear resistance.

**Q: Will the buckles rust if used outdoors?**
A: yes

**Q: I'm confused, the contents of the small ziplock bag contained the Velcro strap's, but nothing else, there were no hook's?**
A: The velcro system is called "Hook & Loop": the 2 parts of those straps that attach to each other and grip, ARE the "hook" end and the "loop" end. There are not separate hooks. If you want to attach these straps to hooks (which I have done on occasion) you have to purchase the hooks in the size and style you need, by searching "hooks".

**Q: Could i use this to make taut band between 2 vertical posts?**
A: The straps have velcro on one side.   If you insert the buckle you can take the two ends and loop them around the buckle then fold them back against each other so the at the buckle is between the two looped ends.  If you pull it tight and have a sufficient length of velcro on velcro it should be pretty secure.  So one end of the velcro strip is put through the metal buckle and folded back to join with that same end.  The other end of the strip is put through the other side of the metal buckle and folded back to join with that same end.  If there is a sufficient length of velcro on velcro it should for a pretty tight and secure band.

Glad I found this! I can see many uses for this product. First, I'll mention that I never knew that hook and loop straps could have the hook part and the loop part on the same side of the strap. This is a big bonus and makes the straps much morse versatile. Looks great, very strong, thick and helps organize stuff in my trunk. My first task was to add straps to the fold-down seats in my Bronco. They work perfectly for this task, making it possible to bring the seats back to their upright position from the rear of the vehicle. This was nearly impossible before adding the straps. Great for organizing cords and other hard to wrap items. Day one, I also used it to wrap up some trim boards to keep everything neat and clean. Good value here for a nice product with tons of uses.
