This is not immediately apparent it only becomes apparent with wear.Having worn it for some time now, it really does support, when I'm typing as at times I need the extra support and when I start to get pain I put it on and that does the trick to stop me flexing my wrist,it is comfortable and a glove fits over it quite easily.The real problem is that the item smells........it smells appalling to the extent that having removed it one night and put it on the bedside table I then had to remove it to the other side of the room to escape the smell.Edit.And two years later I've bought two more. These might be cheap and cheerful but they are excellent. New ones still smell just as bad but the cure is to leave them to air. My right thumb is giving me a lot of problems (arthritis) and I found wearing this all day in the shop, where I am handling so many different things all the time, gave the joint stability and took away the perpetual ache that had been there. It won't take away the sharp pain if I push too hard or lift too much (that's my fault!) but for the 'ordinary' day to day things it is exceptional in its support and comfort of wearing.
