It is a saucer to hold the jug, the jug itself, and a cup that also can be used a lid. There is a very slight seepage of water through the clay walls of the jug, but it is quite minor and might stop after a while (this is common with un-glazed clay pots in general). However, the seepage keeps the water cool in the summer so it's a good thing. The water tastes mildly of clay at first but that passes in a few days. It looks beautiful and holds enough water for several nights (I think it's about 1.7 liters). It is a bit pricey compared to what they cost in Turkey, but then gain, it's shipped direct from Istanbul and where else are you going to get one of these if you are in the US (or any other place that isn't Turkey)?
