It interrupts production. We ended up getting a small hose so we could just turn on the tap to fill it but it wasn’t a great solution. Someone forgot they were filling it and left the trap running which flooded the area. We had high hopes but it didn’t work very well for us. 🙁 Review: Far West Texas heat. Finally took the plunge and purchased the large Hessaire swamp cooler. Amazing for my pergola/bar/grilling area. Granted, we’ve had some cooler weather here of late (mid 90s), but this AC coupled with my misters keeps the pergola area very nice. Currently grilling and feeling no heat come off the grill. This unit was very easy to put together. Five minutes tops. Fill, plug in and you’re set. I do have the smaller Honeywell AC unit. The Honeywell’s highest setting is the Hessaire’s lowest. These are completely dependent on humidity differentials. I've read tons of reviews and background. They'll work to some degree as long as the relative humidity is less than 100%, but you're probably better off with a non-evaporative cooler in Florida. They work like crazy in desert areas, but even then, they can only do a max of about 20'F difference from outside temp. They might work okay in concert with a traditional central air system, since that actually de-humidifies the inside air. But I don't know. **Q: How far does the air flow** A: I have ours on low and it cools from the garage door to the home door on the opposite side of the room. Very amazing **Q: would this work in garage in AZ? no window. won't keep door open due to snakes. suggestions for best model?** A: If you can, create some inlet and outlet. If everything is closed, you'll evaporate some, however, it will recycle the moist air, since it does not have any way to dry. Ideally, create an opening, perhaps with some bug screen to keep snakes out and place the cooler in front. You'll also have to have a way to exhaust the moist air, the hot dry air will eventually be converted into some laundry room condition. That's why there should be an exhaust fan of some kind to expel the moist air. I am running the MC37M for almost five years in northern Arizona. Whilst the cooler is simple, it has some design flaws. We have water that has very high calcium contents. The moisture / calcium can cause built ups on the electrical connector and puff, cause problems. This type of water can also cause higher maintenance costs, ergo every year new pads, possibly new pump. Lots of calcium layer inside the tank and on outside casing etc. In your case you might be better off with a window AC, but it always boils down to fresh air circulation. **Q: can I use regular tap water for this product? How many hours does it work if I fill up the tank?** A: Yes, tap water is fine. I take a one gallon jug and place in the fridge and when ready to use the cooler I empty it in the reservoir. I refill and place back into the fridge for next time. Immediate very cool air that last a while. The packaging and shipping is horrible. Like other reviewers stated, the shipment was damaged, the item came dents all over the top of the unit. Also there was clear indication that the box was damaged during shipping. I decided to take a chance and assemble the unit and see if it worked. The unit is much bigger than I expected and there's not much to it, its just a fan with a pump that pulls water over what appears to be a cardboard membraned with a fan that blows air across the membrane. I purchased this item for my huge underdeck patio that I just completed, and although I have three huge fans, it was still quite humid under my deck as both sides are closed in. Make sure you check out the unit thoroughly, make sure all of the membranes are in correctly as I needed to sort of move mine into place as they were dislodged during shipping. You will need to fill it it with water. There is a compartment door on the front of the unit to use a picture to pour water into the unit. This will take awhile, so i recommend using the hose attachment located on the side of the unit to fill the 14 gallon tank. once filled, just plug it in turn on the pump then the fan and that's it. Well, it exceeded my expectations it actually worked quite well. I am giving this unit 3 stars not because it didn't work, as it did, (I am actually using it right now as I type this review), but because of the way it's packaged for shipping. The packing is not good at all, and this has been mentioned quite a few times in the reviews, I read it before I ordered my unit.
