## Description

In a nutshell: The PC and console worlds combine thanks to man’s best friend and a mouse’s greatest enemy. Create, pamper and train your favoured furry companions in the latest The Sims 2 expansion. The lowdown: After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it’s really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that’s just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work! Most exciting moment: On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times. Since you ask: The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it’ll focus on exterior objects and locations. It’s not yet clear whether there’ll be a console version. The bottom line: Finally, The Sims is made to work on consoles!- HARRISON DENT From scampering pooches to cuddly kittens to guinea pigs, add to your Sims' lives with new animal friends. Choose from popular dog and cat breeds or customize their features to create a unique pet for your Sim to raise as one of the family. Whether Sims are romping with their pets in the central town park or searching the shops for the perfect pet accessory, keep one thing in mind Sim pets have minds of their own, so expect the unexpected.

Review: long review, but in short tons more features, 3rd person view and a great pets feature - ... ...This is the sims 2 right, as in the next installment in the series? Yes I know it is of course but so much is changed from sims 1 that it's better to think of this as a completely different game than a sequel. I haven't played sims 2, the standard edition, but yes there are many differences to the first sims game, and all are for the better. I can't possibly list all the new features, there are simply too many. The basic premise is the same, you control sims etc. But in this game there is no story mode that I can see of, instead you have aspirations and wants. You pick this whilst creating a sim, from options like family, wealth, knowledge creativity etc. So I've had goals like get a job in business, earn so many simoleons, hire a maid etc. Next the standard way of controlling your sim is via the thumbstick, in a 3rd person view. You can switch to the old style by pressing the select button, but this is just for the consoles(at least it was at the time from what I've read on the wiki) and this way of controlling your sim makes you feel much more immersed and feels so much more appropriate for the console versions. Next there is the main feature of course, pets. This is my first time playing a non-standard version of a sims game and I am amazed. It would have been so easy, so easy for the publisher to just tack this feature on and make it feel gimmicky, but instead it is implemented literally perfectly. You get to choose a cat or dog when creating a family (but this isn't mandatory). I think you have over 20 options of breed for both cats and dogs(but more for dogs obviously). They could have given you a token amount, but instead the choice is massive. With dogs for example you can pick from dogs you'd expect to see here like a Labrador golden retriever mix(I think that's what it said on the screen, I'm visually impared), a german shepherd etc. But you can also have not so obvious breeds like the French bulldog, different types of dogs like an Italian poodle I think etc, though I don't think I saw a husky. You can also have a parrot or hamster thing(think it's similar to one but called something different), haven't got these myself, but read online, I think you do it by buying the appropriate cages in the item menu then choosing to restock them. There are people online who say you can get a horse, snake etc but this isn't mentioned on the wiki or wikepedia, so I believe it to be false, but the choice is amazing. You can train your pets, play with them etc, and exit your house to go to the town square I believe to buy pet items, more pets(but ones you could have previously got via creating them yourself) and the area is surprisingly big. I am discovering new things pets can do too, I noticed my Doberman alerts me(or my sim I guess) of when the car for work arrives either to drop you off or pick you up by running up to it and barking, which I found quite useful. But there are other great features too, weather, the ability to cook actual meals, by choosing ingredients from the fridge freezer and combining them as you please or looking at the recipe book or harvesting food yourself. The graphics also seem much better and the different houses scenery seems more interesting and distinctive from other houses(though I didn't play story mode in the sims 1 where you go to different houses tbf). There are more new items of course, though it seems that there are no swimming pools. It also seems that you can't get children(I at least don't think you can pick to create one, and I think sims 3 added them back in). I also think sims 2 lets you pick to play as an alien(though it has been over 10 years since I played the sims 2 so don't quote me on that), but in this game you can't. But those are only minor things compared to the many additions. There are many other new things too, but I think I've covered the main ones, and ones I haven't are more minor such as stats such as hunger, relationships being clearer, item categories being improved etc. The ways to edit your sim are also more advanced now too and much more intuitive, not a new feature as such but a great overhaul. So sorry if that was a bit long, but there really is so much to talk about, I seriously could have made that longer, but wanted to cover just the main things. So overall an amazing game that feels so different to sims 1 it doesn't even feel like a sequel with some amazing new features, love it.
Review: Fantastic! - This game is nearly 20 years old and when I received it the disc was immaculate, not a single mark or scratch and even the case was in perfect condition! All of this for just £3.77! Very happy with my purchase. Thanks 👍

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sims 2 Pets - Playstation 2 - Excellent Fun
*by K***T on 29 December 2007*

I loved playing the original Sims but couldn't get it to run on my PC after a while, so I was keen to get a similar game I could run from the Playstation without fear of damaging my PC. This game is definitely it. I've really enjoyed playing it, and had very few problems, so long as I save regularly. Its not a game that has a definite beginning and end, its just an organic process of enjoying getting characters to interact - which has suited me down to the ground, really. Some good laughs (especially when characters get abducted by aliens!) and lots of activities to master. It has certainly kept me occupied for hours at a time over many days while I've been recovering from an operation. Recommended - but be warned, it will eat into your social life!!
