It is not a good idea to cut the silicone which will expose the woven fiber glass woven mesh. The exposed fibers could get into food and become ingested. Probably applies to these mats. **Q: Can these be used as a cover on a pan when cooking in the oven?** A: Absolutely!!! These are the best investment for your pans. I use them on my pans every time I use them. They go in the freezer, refrigerator, and oven. Nothing sticks to the pan when you use these.
