You then have to have an extra race so as the races can be chosen at random in any order as you must always have one extra race so as on your final race you have at least two races to choose from to comply with the legalities of holding a race night without a licence. **Q: how do you set the odds for the horses on the night** A: If there are 8 horses in a race. You charge £1 per bet. Add all the bets up for each horse - say it comes to £80. We say £40 charity - £40 winnings. How ever many winners have bet on the winning horse then divide 40 by number of winners and that's the return. No odds but you do need to keep a record of how many people bet on each horse per race **Q: Can you rename the horses? Are they referred to by number or name on the video? Its a fundraiser so I thought we could pre sell horses and name them..** A: Ciommentary of the races is by number. Always 8 runners in every race. But the the email was answered rapidly by Derek and he ensured our event went off without a hitch. Great event, easy to use and would highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great resource *by A***T on 24 April 2014* We've paid £200 a time for somebody to come in and run Race Nights for us before. This cut our costs by a great deal and it was great fun to organise and run it ourselves. The sound wasn't great but that may well have been our equipment rather than the DVD in fairness, but nobody minded much anyway. One good tip - Make up your own horse names and publish the list (We even had a powerpoint slide to show the horse names before every race, along with an advert - extra income!) By making up silly horse names based on members we knew would be there on the night (Staggering Steve, Lightning Luke etc.) it created further interest and more betting. Interesting how the amount staked on each race rose as the evening went on as well and the beers went down!
