It's out by a few degrees. I.E. The shaft flat does not quite reach alignement. It does not pass the flat of the upturn, but falls short of it. **Q: differance between 800 -1000 watt and 1200-1400 watt thermostat** A: I have 2 halogen ovens both of which need different thermostats. Each thermostat has a code number on it, in my case I have a KST398A and a KST101-B. The 1st being a Russell Hobbs the 2nd a Salter. If you Google these numbers you will find images that do give the technical specifications of the thermostat. The KST398A unfortunately comes in several designs in regards to how it is mounted/fixed in place, the one here would not fit to my oven without modification. Bear in mind that these work using bi-metalics, so the ovens have been designed with this in mind ie the thermostats position,all gaps around it are relevant to the temperature control it achieves. So yes you can 'bodge it' in place but try to keep it as close to original as you can. There's only really the thermostat and lamp that burn out on these. Yes it's not too expensive to buy a new oven, but I've got used to cooking with these, each seems better for different food stuffs. So if like me it's 'better the devil you know' then maybe you need to source the correct part(by it's KST number) and buy several and maybe wait a month in the knowledge that you'll be sorted for 15-25 years. Anyway these ovens are far better than using a 3 kilowatt oven, so says my electric meter lol. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good technical description of product, ensuring accurate replacement item. *by M***. on 3 May 2022* The head of the securing screw fixing defective thermostat within my halogen cooker needed to be drilled-off to enable the old thermostat to be removed. The (identical) replacement thermostat isn't supplied with a fixing screw, so if you too can't use the original fixing screw, you will need to find a suitable screw to complete your repair.Excellent replacement thermostat, pity it isn't supplied with a fixing screw. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good replacement for halogen cooker thermostat *by C***L on 3 May 2025* You need to be careful and mechanicaly adapt but works well ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Replacement *by J***N on 12 June 2018* It works ok, but had to change the shaft due to it being different. It was a replacement one for a cook shop Halogen oven, which fits in a different way to the control knob.
