I do shake them a few times, like a total 180 degree rotation several times, during the brew process and I've never had the lids leak. Then I remove the pods which are conveniently floating on the top, and a top it off with a little water, screw this lid back on and keep it in the fridge. I get about two servings from each jar, and while I just wanted a lids that would be easier to deal with during all the on again off again process... an added bonus turned out that when it comes time to pour over a glass of ice, I don't have to unscrew the whole lid, so it's even easier than I hoped. Moreover, the little flip top stays open while I'm pouring so I don't even need to try and juggle that without making a mess. Yes, I'm a klutz and the less I have to juggle at once, the better.
