You have to do this to make the paper soft as it arrives compressed and tightly packed. For baby rabbits you would need to tear the strips into smaller pieces. We used it for our rats but we are careful not to leave any long strands especially with young rats, for baby rats we tear the strips into short lengths around 2" long so it is time consuming. We have just swopped to softnest standard by Finacard as it is softer and easier to fluff up. **Q: Is this very dusty** A: No, it's not very dusty. I have bought this bedding for both of my hamsters and it has been excellent as it has allowed them to build a proper nest. **Q: Do you use this for your entire cage or just in their house/sleeping area? my guineas like fleece but is hard to clean this could be good alternative** A: Only have rabbit now but in the past have had Guinea pigs and only use it in the bedding area, and for our rabbit now. I put good 2 handfuls in remember to shake well to loosen the paperwool.
