When I turn my faucet on it runs, when I turn my faucet off it shuts off. While in operation it's not very loud which is nice. It was easy and install. It provides excellent water pressure. I have mine connected to a 2.5 gallon plug in water heater and I have had no issues in 3 years. There have been times where I accidentally ran my catchment out of water and it had no effect on the pump. Thankfully, as your usually not supposed to run these dry.
