I bought 3” bc you can’t expect soft under 3” (the bigger the softer is the way it works w mattresses or toppers). I really needed a mattress topper (I sleep on my couch) and I love the cover they give with it. It just was too high for why I needed it, but if I needed it for camping or to use on a lawn chair I wouldn’t hesitate. You shouldn’t expect it to be like the comfort of home- it’s a roll up. but it’s not a cheap foam feel, it really was great. I just need something smaller and I figure I actually do need cheap foam that’s only for softness and I’ll have to cut it, bc of couch size which you really should never do unless you know there’s no fiberglass involved. I think this product is climate pledge so I figure it’s safe but I wouldn’t cut cover then have to cut layers inside, but the problem was 3” was 3” and it was too high also. Anyhow I’m still totally recommending it bc it was clearly very high quality and a good price. I’m soooo picky about bedding. Crazy bad back issues, fibromyalgia- so I need way soft. I would’ve kept it for a one night camping situation maybe on top of something-so try it. Good company. Returned w no problem after opening etc. I returned asap, but worried bc I couldn’t completely airtight return like it was delivered but they gave me no problem. I’m not really good at building a bed platform or all of that so I bought this to test out and it has been wonderful. I used it for the past two weeks straight of just sleeping in the car and it was Very comfortable and easy to sleep on, as well as easy and quick to roll up in the morning I was able a roll a full size pillow in with the mattress so during the day there is no signs the I slept in the car. The little pocket is a bit to small for my phone but maybe smaller items could be put in there. I’m planning a camping trip for Christmas and this will definitely be a great addition. If I decide to just do van life full time I’m definitely using this. One thing is I recommend if you are 6 feet tall or taller to really consider if you want the single or twin size. They fit perfectly inside our summer rectangular sleeping bags, so I used a bag inside out and slept on it as if it were a mattress with a fitted sheet - making laundry after camping easy while keeping the mattress clean.Don’t be scared off by reviews about smells; the plasticy foam odor wasn’t noticeable after being unpacked for a few days.Warning, they are bulky! Like the four of them nearly fill our Thule roof box. But my hips didn’t dig into the ground while tent camping, so I guess that’s the point.
