My first encounter with an Escape sneaker came in the form of an SB Dunk that was released around 2008. This Air Max 1 is part of a pack that was released in December 2014. At that time the Internationalist Mid and two other Air Max models (AM90 and AM95) also got the "Escape" treatment.Nike Escape releases are generally known for their quality in terms of both materials and construction, and the stakes are even higher if the shoe has a "QS" designation like this AM1. "QS" is shorthand for "quickstrike". Quickstrike shoes are made available in very limited numbers, making them harder to get ahold of and more expensive, but it's usually worth the trouble because of the quality of the product.(The next tier up is "Hyperstrike", where the shoes are released in even smaller numbers.)The attributes of a quickstrike all apply to the Air Max 1 Escape. The upper is made of premium leather with the kind of quality piecing and stitching that you'd expect in an expensive dress shoe. Overall construction is excellent. Even the quality of the laces is a step up from the usual. These sneakers feel great on the foot but have proven comfortable enough to wear all day.In terms of fit I find that for me AM1's fit big so although I wear a 10.5 in most other sneakers I need to get the AM1 in a size 10. I've seen reviews of AM1's where people say they fit true-to-size and one that said they fit small, so if you're new to the AM1 model then I suggest going into a local sneaker store and trying on a pair to determine your proper size. ### ⭐⭐ Strange leather. *by M***M on Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2016* Strange kind of leather.
