They're individually packaged to maintain some moisture, this helps the foam expanding to fit your ear once you've twisted them in. They feel just like a memory foam pillow, if you squish them flat, it will take a few minutes but they'll return to shape, a gentle squeeze and they reform their shape quickly. They completely delete all high pitched sounds, from an emotional perspective, I actually cried. Now the little bird can scream the song of his people at 4 am and I can sleep. Lower pitched sounds are significantly dampened, though you can still hear louder noises. So if the TV is on loudly, or someone knocks on your door, you can still hear them. Another side bonus is that they are very tactile and fun to play with in your fingers. I actually take some out with me to help with my anxiety. I'm actually writing this review after returning to purchase my next box.
